Guitar Hero has recently launched their new game, World Tour. In their new commercial, they have A-Rod, Kobe Byrant, Michael Phelps, and Tony Hawk all dancing to the theme song from Risky Business. In their promo commercials they attempt to demonstrate how the new game is now including drums and a mic along with their typical guitar. These new promo videos also include appearances by Heidi Klum and David Cook doing solo routines but it doesn't show the new gadgets included in the new game. With that in mind, I feel that the promo commerical with the athletes has more impact on the consumers for the simple fact that it shows the new gadgets as well as well known athletes using the product. Qudos to Guitar Hero using the athelets to sell their game!

Wow, I saw this ad on T.V. and laughed. Guitar hero must of had to pay a pretty penny to get those guys in an ad. They are all the top payed players in their sport. Though I gotta say I'm looking forward to be able to sing classic rock songs on Guitar Hero. And I will definitely be singing some Seeger!
I saw this video too. We analyzed it in my advertising class. At first watch, it was funny, entertaining, and a bit cliche. While entertaining with the use of celebrities and a play on Risky Business, Guitar Hero payed more for endorsements the probably necessary. We discussed in advertising that Rock Band could have easily replaced Guitar Hero and that you don't really come away from the commercial with the purpose, benefits and promise of the product. Being an advertising major, we tend to overanalyze these things, but if you think about it, its true!
